Eucharistic Adoration at

St. Patrick Parish

Monday through Friday 9 AM – 9 PM

In the Chapel (West end of the Parish Center)

Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist.  Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion, is exactly the same as spending time before the living God.  Adoration occurs whenever someone kneels in front of the tabernacle, bows before receiving the Blessed Sacrament at Mass, or, in a more focused way, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration.

Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ.  It is the contemplation of the mystery of Christ present before us.  During Eucharistic Adoration, we remain silent in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces.

Could you not watch one hour with Me?

Jesus waits for us in the Blessed Sacrament.  He waits for our acts of faith, adoration, thanksgiving, repentance, and love offered as we contemplate him in the Blessed Sacrament.

"In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewilderment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus concealed in the Host.  Be assiduous in the prayer of adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffering."  Pope Benedict XVI  February 22, 2007

The Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a Monstrance, pictured below.

The Worship and custody of the Holy Eucharist, independent of Mass and Holy Communion can be traced back to post-apostolic times.  St. Justin, writing in his Apology around the year 150, says that Deacons were appointed to carry the Blessed Sacrament to those who were absent from the liturgy.
