Holy Family School System
The Cedar Rapids west side parishes of St. Patrick, St. Jude, and St. Ludmila consolidated their schools into one schools system in 1994 under the new name of Holy Family School.
The consolidation was implemented to provide more learning experiences, plus an enhanced quality of education for our students. In the beginning the Pre Kindergarten thru 4th grade was housed at St. Jude and St. Ludmila sites with the Middle School students housed at the St. Patrick site. Then upon the consolidation of the two high schools and the construction of the new Xavier High School building, it was only natural that the west side middle school should move to the LaSalle Building.
Today St. Jude Elementary contains the Pre K through 3rd grade. St. Ludmila Elementary contains Pre K through 4th grade and the LaSalle building is the Middle School and houses the 5th through 8th grades. There are approximately 700 students attending the Holy Family School System.
Bussing is provided via the public school bussing system for grade school students who live two miles or more from the nearest Catholic Elementary School, and three miles or more for students of Catholic Middle School.
The Holy Family School System is governed by it's own Board of Education that are elected by the parishioners of each of the participating parishes of St. Patrick's-Cedar Rapids, St. Jude, St. Ludmila, John XXIII, and St. Patrick's-Fairfax.
Catholic parents are encouraged to check out the faith based quality education offered by the Holy Family School system. Tuition grants and assistance are available. For more information on the Holy Family School System please contact one of the education centers direct or call the Parish Office.
Xavier High School
Xavier High School opened in the fall of 1998 and is located at 6300 42nd St. NE. Xavier was built as a consolidation of the rich traditions already established by Regis High School that was located on the east side of Cedar Rapids, and LaSalle High School which was located on the West side. The Xavier campus is on a sixty-acre sire and provides the latest in curriculum and technology to almost 900 students from the Cedar Rapids area. Xavier also provides an excellent fine arts program and a complete sports schedule.
Financial support for Xavier is generated from three primary sources which are; parish subsidies, tuition, and funds from the Xavier Foundation. This fifteen million dollar campus is a great source of pride for our Catholic families, and will serve our students and the community of Cedar Rapids well into the twenty-first century.
